And if, for a change, you visited a zoo?
Of course, to see lions, giraffes, alligators or bears, it would be better to go where they live naturally, hoping they show up when you are there ; it would be the most exciting solution but it is certainly not the most economical and easiest to achieve. The zoo, for that purpose, is fine.
Is it a view that the animals share even if they are fed, housed, taken care of and pushed to reproduce, it is not certain. As we do, they would probably prefer freedom and the difficulties that come with it than living in a zoo and it is sometimes what you can see in their eyes when they look at you behind the bars of their cages. They are there nevertheless and perhaps satisfied with their fate after all, especially if they were born in captivity.
In any case, if you want to travel close to home without breaking the bank with plane tickets, there are two solutions in Boston.
The first one is north of the city, in Stoneham more precisely where you will find the Stone Zoo. Allow a good hour to see black bears, a snow leopard, some wolves and a hundred other animals presented in diverse habitats.
The second is south of the city at Franklin Zoo and this is where you’ll encounter giraffes, lions, tigers, zebra, gorillas and almost two hundred other animals also presented in different habitats. This zoo is the biggest of the two.
Booth will offer you an escape from daily life, make you dream of more distant land and reconnect with your inner child’s, unless it is an opportunity to accompany yours.
And as you will see, the animals are in great shape and are a simple pleasure to contemplate.

Et si, pour changer, vous faisiez une visite au zoo?
Bien sûr, il vaudrait mieux aller là où ils habitent en vrai pour voir des lions, des girafes, des alligators ou des ours en espérant qu’ils se montrent quand vous êtes sur place; ce serait la solution la plus naturelle et la plus excitante mais ce n’est certainement pas la plus économique et la plus facile à réaliser alors le zoo, pour cela, c’est bien.
Est-ce un avis que les animaux partagent même s’ils sont nourris, logés, soignés et poussés à se reproduire, ce n’est pas certain. Comme nous, ils préféreraient sans doute la liberté et les difficultés que cela implique et cela se voit parfois sur le regard qu’ils nous portent derrière les barreaux de leurs cages mais ils sont là et peut-être satisfaits tout de même de leur sort, surtout s’ils sont nés en captivité.
En tout cas, si vous voulez voyager à deux pas de chez vous sans vous ruiner en billets d’avion, il y a deux solutions à Boston.
La premiere est au nord de la ville, à Stoneham plus précisément où vous trouverez le Stone zoo. Comptez une bonne heure pour voir ours noirs, léopard des neiges, loups et une centaine d’autres animaux présentés dans des habitats divers.
La seconde est au sud de la ville au zoo Franklin et c’est là que se trouvent girafes, lions, tigres, zébres, gorilles et presque deux cent autres animaux eux aussi présentés dans des habitats différents. C’est le plus grand zoo des deux.
Ce sera alors un dépaysement facile qui vous fera rêver à des terres plus lointaines et retrouver votre âme d’enfant, à moins que ce ne soit l’occasion d’y accompagner les vôtres.
Et vous verrez, tous les animaux sont en pleine forme et ils offrent un plaisir simple à contempler.
